Behavior Is Communication
Looking beyond behavior to understand underlying need.
Student behavior is often interpreted as defiance, avoidance, disruption, or disengagement. But beneath many behavioral presentations are unmet emotional, neurological, and environmental needs that influence how students function within school environments.
This film examines the relationship between trauma, regulation, stress, and behavior while challenging the idea that behavioral struggles are simply matters of motivation or compliance. By reframing behavior through a behavioral health lens, schools can shift from reactive discipline to responses rooted in understanding, support, and intervention.
